ME IN MOTION “SANCTUS REAL SPRING TOUR” BLOG DAY 4:
Enjoy The Ride
Ever been lost? Yeah, me too. Our GPS has been known to lead us astray a time or two. Of course I always like to blame that little touch screen device, even if there was a bit of user error involved. We had intentions of going to the beach to watch the seals today, but our plans changed. I typed in the city where we were planning on going and we started our trek to the coast. However, there was some breakdown in communication and I confused the name of the beach with the name of the city and after 45 minutes we ended up at a dead end. A little frustrating.
Today was a day off for us, so it didn’t really matter. We had no schedule to keep, and nothing planned. On the bright side, the drive was beautiful. We passed through the fertile Salinas River Valley and saw countless vineyards. The Rolling hills were covered in short little green sprouts of new grass and the winding road seemed to have not a care in the world. Cows were lazily grazing and strange looking mule deer perked up as we chugged along. As cliché as this sounds, this brief little trip reminded me that so often we get caught up in the destination and forget to enjoy the ride. In our lives we are constantly worrying or thinking about some goal ahead that we lose sight of the beauty all around us.
The Bible tells us not to worry. Matthew 6:34 says :
“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I got out of the van after we drove back into town and saw kids playing in the park. I just watched them play for a while, and tried to not worry. It was in a way theraputic to watch them. I know we all have a lot on our minds. We have a million things to do, everyday. Whatever you’re in the middle of right now-try not to forget that there is beauty all around you. Thank God for that, and let tomorrow worry about itself.
