For Immediate Release (Littleton, CO) — Men’s Ministry Catalyst (MMC) has announced the release of “Getting in the Game,” a six-week discipleship experience for men. Dr. Jim Grassi, founder and President of MMC, says the new study has some specific goals.
“For too many men, the thought of joining a small group of men at church can be overwhelming,” says Dr. Grassi. “This study guides men in a comfortable, conversational approach about the most important message Christ gave all of us: making disciples who make disciples. It is a six-week study which can typically be worked into the schedule of most men, and it creates a relational environment where men can share their thoughts and concerns with each other.”
Dr. Grassi founded Men’s Ministry Catalyst in 1981 which partners with church leaders, businessmen, professional athletes, and denominations in discovering and implementing a relational discipleship process for men.
“We believe that men long to be part of something bigger than themselves,” says Dr. Grassi. “Men desire to represent a noble cause and positively influence others. Being a disciple of Jesus and making disciples is synonymous with becoming the men God intended them to be. We have built this new study around the concept that discipleship is more caught than taught.”
Dr. Grassi says our culture has been negatively affected by the lack of biblical manhood.
“Men and biblical manhood are under attack and too many men are retreating to isolationism, pornography, and anger to cope with the negative culture. We need to help men stand firm and strong against the evilness of today.”
Dr. Grassi points to a U.S. Census Bureau report that says 41% of children in America live absent their biological father. Post-abortive women report that 51% of abortions were forced on them by a man. One in three young girls and one in five young boys are sexually abused before they reach 17, usually by a man. In her lifetime, one in six women in America are victims of rape or attempted rape by a man. Dr. Grassi says it is time for men to reverse course.
“For the genders to function properly as God designed us, each gender must fulfill his/her roles and responsibilities,” says Dr. Grassi. “This new study will help men become more knowledgeable about their two primary responsibilities: being protectors and providers. We see these two male responsibilities in Scripture, and whether we acknowledge it or not, they are innate. As men, we know deep down that we are to protect and provide for those whom God has placed in our care.”
