As someone who has been active in worship ministry for several years, I had a really big itch on my heart as I reflected on the worship that I was offering to God.
Some small things would get in the way and distract me in the worship ministry. It would be an audio technical issue, or maybe someone would mess up and cause me to stumble as well.
Some worship I gave was lazy, some worship I gave was stained. I had to reevaluate what God wanted me to offer as worship.
I stopped looking at worship as a song list, and more of a state of mind. Worship isn’t just for 30 minutes every Sunday, a true worshipper is constantly in worship of God all the time, in any circumstance. Good or bad.
John 4:23-24 –
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
God gave us everything. Jesus didn’t die for us carelessly. God gave us His best.
In the same way, we have to give God our best of our worship because that’s all we have to offer.
May worship extend from church services.
You can worship God in the way you treat your spouse, in the way you love your neighbor, in the way you pray. It’s beyond the music.
We have to honor God in everything we do. Worship Him to the best of our abilities.
In this song, I open up about my previous struggles as a worship leader.
How sometimes my worship just felt like a routine I had to cross off the list from the pastor.
I open up about having to cleanse myself, open up my worship to transcend beyond music, and give God my best worship at all times in Spirit and in truth.
If you liked the message behind this song, I recommend you check out the entire “CHURCHIANITY” project, where I dive deeper into pursuing a true relationship with Christ, being the light of the world and part of the body of Christ, instead of just being stuck inside of 4 walls. To not only go to church, but be the church in the world that needs to hear about the good news of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
