Have you ever been in a situation—or had a loved one in a situation—where time was of the essence? It seems that all you can focus on is how the clock is ticking away, and nothing seems to be happening. I felt that way the other day when I was reading my Bible and asking the Lord to speak words of encouragement to my heart. He led me to Isaiah 60:22 (AMP), which says: “I, the Lord, will hasten it in its [appointed] time.” God was telling me that there was a very specific time when He would act on my behalf, and when the time came, He would bring it to pass quickly. The NIV translation says it this way: “I am the Lord; it its time I will do this swiftly.”
Can God speed up the answers to our prayers when He has a mind to move? Yes, He can. I have seen Him do it time and time again, and when it happens, it is a beautiful thing. But in order for us to witness this kind of supernatural intervention, we must keep our eyes on God, serve Him faithfully, and wait patiently for Him to act. Failing to trust Him in a situation can rob us of His best. God has not forgotten you. You will see Him fulfill those promises that He has spoken to your heart. If they seem delayed, know that when the appointed time comes, He can do a very quick work on your behalf. Thank Him today that He has good things in store for you!
