This vintage recipe is one that my mom made often while my sisters and I were growing up. A lot of tuna casserole recipes have come and gone since then, but I think this one is still the best! – JM Farro

CLASSIC TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE

8 ozs. (about 2 cups) uncooked Macaroni
3 tablespoons Butter
2 tablespoons Flour
2 cups Milk
1 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper
2 cups Velveeta cheese
1 tablespoon grated Onion
1 can Tuna (drained)
Bread Crumbs for topping

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cook macaroni in boiling salted water. Drain.

In medium size saucepan, melt butter. Blend in flour and salt.
Add milk and cook over low heat until smooth and thickened, stirring constantly.

Add cheese and onion. Continue to cook until cheese melts.
Add tuna (drained), and break up with fork.

Place macaroni into 2-quart casserole dish. Mix in cheese sauce. Top with crumbs.
Bake about 25 minutes or until brown.
