NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 9, 2025) – Beyond Blessed Parenting: Embrace These Seven Principles and Experience Authentic Connection, the new book from author, speaker, and therapist Tricia Thornton, has released from Fitting Words today, September 9, 2025.
A No. 1 Amazon Top New Release and Amazon Best Seller in pre-release, Beyond Blessed Parenting is the perfect guide for parents seeking to navigate the complexities of raising children in today’s tumultuous world.
Thornton, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), is an emerging figure in the field of child and family therapy.
She came to national attention after counseling children and their families from The Covenant School in the wake of the Nashville shooting in 2023.
In Beyond Blessed Parenting, the followup to her debut book, Blessing from Fear, Thornton combines psychological and neuroscience research with spiritual guidance and practical suggestions based on her clinical and personal experience to address topics including fear, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health issues that parents face while raising children in our modern world.
“All the unrest in the world can cause parents to feel the burden of balancing their desire to create a safe haven for their families with trying to maintain their own inner harmony.” says Thornton.
She emphasizes that authentic connection is the ultimate goal in raising emotionally healthy children.
“Authentic connection is experienced when parents first connect with God, then within themselves, then with one another, then with their children,” says Thornton.
While sharing her insights into personal growth and spiritual connection, the author reflects on her own inner doubts and parenting challenges, revealing an endearing and relatable transparency about the imperfections of parenting.
Throughout the book, Thornton walks her readers through seven biblically-based foundational principles—Silence, Listening, Acknowledgement, Renewal, Forgiveness, Balance, and Embrace—which offer both encouragement and guidance.
“Daily, I see parents and children of all ages come into Tricia Thornton Therapy with their own stories full of angst, fears, and unknowns,” says Thornton. “Through my own journey and walking alongside my clients, I have come to the truth that many parents are in a crisis state, desperately trying to empower their children while at the same time not getting caught in anxious loops themselves.”
Encouraging introspection along the way, she urges parents to cultivate their own individual growth, which in turn enriches their parenting.
“Perfection is unattainable, but a beautiful, immensely rewarding parenting experience is within your reach, and will lead to authentic connection,” says Thornton.
Thornton’s busy book launch includes interviews with ABC TV in Nashville’s Local on 2; The Christian Post’s online magazine, Crossmap; Bill Martinez Live!; Walk in Faith TV; Jubilleecast; World Christian Broadcasting; TV 57’s Atlanta Live and Friends & Neighbors; Vinelife Podcast, The Missional Life, and more.
Beyond Blessed Parenting: Embrace These Seven Principles and Experience Authentic Connection is available on Amazon.com or wherever books are sold.

Praise for Beyond Blessed Parenting: Embrace These Seven Principles and Experience Authentic Connection:
Thornton’s new book has been praised by her peers in the field of child and family therapy.
“I have practiced Pediatrics for 30 years and recognize that it is much harder to be a parent today than in previous generations. In Beyond Blessed Parenting, Tricia Thornton walks through seven biblically grounded principles that can help parents in this age of social media perfectionism. Much like a flight attendant instructing you to put on your oxygen mask first, Tricia reminds parents to focus on their
own mental health so that they will be more equipped to care for their children.” —Chetan R. Mukundan, MD, Nashville, Tennessee
“With the wisdom and care that has been gathered from years of careful parenting and the labors of a skilled therapist, Tricia Thornton shows us how to think about the importance of self-awareness and self-care in the very selfless task of being a parent. Beyond Blessed Parenting offers critical insights into the growing field of neurobiology and trauma, all framed in practical case vignettes and biblical insights
that will benefit every parent in these very complex times. We would all do well to take advantage of this resource.” —Jason Brown, MA, LPC-MHSP
“Tricia Thornton’s second book, Beyond Blessed Parenting, addressing the growing mental health crisis in this country, is a critical addition to the literature on this issue. Her book is real in its approach to a complex subject, truly a guide for parents searching for the best ways to navigate raising children in a world that seems to resonate more with chaos than with order. The stakes couldn’t be any higher for our future, and this book is indeed a blessing for parents.” —William R. Mott, Ph.D.
“Beyond Blessed Parenting has a balance of psychological theory and research findings, and practical suggestions for addressing issues such as fear and anxiety, and references to sources of spiritual guidance. Through the cases, Tricia Thornton covers a range of issues parents face in their
everyday life. Her own experience brings a voice to create conversation with the reader.” —Robert B. Innes, Professor Emeritus Peabody College at Vanderbilt University
“The pace of life, social media, and the pressures on parents and kids have greatly impacted parenting. Dive in and see that parenting a child well starts with caring for ourselves first.” —Dr. Steven Johnson, MD, Brentwood, Tennessee
