“Peace and the Beach” by Me In Motion

ME IN MOTION “EVERYTHING IS NOTHING” RED TOUR BLOG DAY 9:
PEACE AND THE BEACH

So it’s been a blur of a past couple days! I’m sitting in the dressing room upstairs in the Golden State Theater, here in beautiful Monterrey, CA. This place is probably the sweetest venue we’ve played in a long time (pic 1), and this city literally looks like it is out of a national geographic magazine, or a story book. I definetely wouldn’t mind living out here! Take note of the pictures, as we got next to some live seals and a real live pelican (pic 2), which we were so harshly yelled at by a local “nature police” for disturbing. Not sure how he figured that? hmm…
But anyways, to rewind. I had a super early morning flight from Nashville this morning to San Jose, CA. It’s been a great past couple days as I was able to fly back and hit the studio some more with my good buddy Michael Tait. (I’ve had the privelege to work on co-producing/writing the upcoming Newsboys record, check out the new tuneage @ myspace.com/newsboys), and also worked on writing for another record as well. So needless to say, there was not much rest for the weary! This morning came too quickly, and before I knew it, the plane touched down in the Pacific time zone, followed by heading to the venue, setting up, soundchecking, etc…
But then I was reminded, when I finally took a walk down to the picturesque beach and watched the waves crash in, that you can only go 1000 mph for so-long. I finally had a moment of tranquility, a moment to breathe, and remember the things I so often forget about in the crazy chaos of life. It was one of those moments where God grabs a hold of you and you know it’s time to turn your ear to Him. So I just listened…
In one way, I felt a little bit like I was “put in my place”, as I looked at the vastness of the ocean, and the immense creativity of His creation. But in another, I felt a wave of peace as I was reminded of this verse, reminded of what’s really important:

10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah

(Psalm 46:10-11)

Just take a moment right now to breathe, wherever you are. Forget about whatever happened in your life today, this week, this month, and just focus on God. Be reminded that no matter where you are, we have a God who can be our strength, a place to run, a “fortress” like the Word says. I encourage you, just like I needed to today, take a much-needed break, and just listen. 🙂
