“Fireflight ‘For Those Who Wait’ Tour Blog” by Fireflight’s Justin Cox

Hey everyone!  We’re a week and a half in to the For Those Who Wait tour and are currently enjoying some nice downtime in beautiful Olathe, KS.  What is there to do in Olathe? Well, there is a Panera with free internet that is currently allowing me to type this blog, so that’s good.  There’s also a Red Robin, and some other stuff, but as of right now, Panera is the highlight.

So far, this tour is shaping up to be one of the more intense, or possibly the most intense, headlining tour we’ve ever done.  We’ve played 9 shows in the last week and a half and still have 25 more to go.  That’s 25 shows in the next 5 weeks.  To put it in perspective, Winter Jam this year did 44 shows in 3 months.  We will have played 34 shows in 6 and a half weeks by the end of this tour.  Needless to say, the next 3 days off we have will be much utilized to sleep, be on the interweb, and possibly go see a movie or two. We might (which means we will probably) come back to Panera to be online more, and also just to get out of the bus into a much more open space.

On this tour, Group1Crew is riding on our bus, so, without counting the driver, we have 13 people on our bus.  Our bus has 12 bunks, so that means someone’s sleeping on a couch.  Now, I know the bus looks big (if you’ve seen it) but if you put 13 people in there all at the same time, you’re definitely praying that someone will go lay down in their bunk so there’s just a little bit more room. ha.  Thankfully, everyone gets along (which is important) and so far it’s been really cool to get to know the G1C’s.

Manic Drive is the other band on the tour and they are driving themselves along with the sound equipment in their van and trailer. If you see them, they’ve probably not slept much, but somehow they all still have great attitudes and are a great hang. Mike (guitar) and I have this ongoing joke about being involved in some sort of, or a series of Gladiator battles.  If you get a chance to talk to him, ask him how many legions he’s defeated in the last week.  He may or may not get it. Either way, it’ll be a fun conversation starter.

I put up a new short video blog/fun fact Friday the other day and will try and do several on this tour, but i’m not promising anything, so make sure you keep an eye on our facebook/myspace/twitter updates to see when we do.  By the way, why are there so many social networking sites?

Take care, and make sure you go check out the tour dates to see if we’re coming near you!
